Formal Education: Bachelor’s degree in Family Studies, Child Development and Psychology at Arizona State University
Steve has been an educator in various venues — teaching preschoolers, college students and foster parents. Over the past twenty-five years, he has worked with various synagogues, churches and other community organizations to explore strategies to improve understanding, acceptance, and inclusion of those with special needs.
The Lee Family has been a licensed foster family for ten years. They have six children, four of whom came into their family through the foster care system. Raising those children has taught Steve more than all his years of formal education and training combined. He has walked many steps with parents facing uphill battles of meeting family needs: medical, behavioral, mental health issues as well as educational or other problems. He knows the task isn’t easy, doesn’t judge, and believes in the power of community.
