Families are the core unit in society and play an important role across the lifespan of persons with disabilities. Traditional services and supports are designed to focus exclusively on the person with the disability rather than the entire family unit. This is evident in the early years, when families are navigating new diagnoses, complicated systems and changing supports. Crystal Bell will provide an overview of the LifeCourse framework and explain how it can be used throughout a person’s lifespan to set high expectations for the future. She’ll share from personal experience the transformations that can occur when individuals and their families are given permission to dream and the tools to make that happen.
